Q: You are making you way over to Perth on September 23rd as one of the headlining acts at the inaugural Electric Eye Fest. When was the last time you were in Perth?
A: Geez that would have been for Stormrider Festival 2019! A whopping 4 years ago now, time moves too fast. We have had a couple line-up changes since then too it’ll feel fresh for us and the audience, we can't wait!
Q: Any standout memories from previous shows in Perth?
A: Definitely our first ever time there which would’ve been for the Dark Tranquillity tour in 2014, and again with Trivium on tour in 2016. Both standouts.
Q: Any Perth metal bands you are familiar with and are fans of?
A: Voyager, Icarus lives, Chaos Divine, everyone else on the Electric Eye Fest line-up. Those spring to mind but there are honestly too many to name! Australia has some quality metal.
Q: You have recently released a blistering cover of Children Of Bodom’s ‘Hate Crew Deathroll’. There is no secret COB are a big influence to Orpheus Omega, so why choose this particular track to cover?
A: It was near impossible for us to pick a song to cover & record. We’ve done a bunch of Bodom covers live before – but we wanted to do something off HCDR because it’s the 20th anniversary. We landed on the title track because it’s big, anthemic, and has a lot of singy/chanty bits for the crowd to join in on!
Q: What’s the latest and greatest news from the Orpheus Omega team?
A: Probably the fact that we’re going to Japan in a month for 3 shows alongside Scar Symmetry!! That’s next on our schedule and we’re so keen and focused for the shows AND to sight-see on the days off.
Q: What will you be bringing over in the way of merch for the fest?
A: We have a new design based on our song “Exist To Observe” that comes in a T-Shirt AND tank top! We’ll be bringing heaps of those - but honestly, we will have everything besides the kitchen sink on us... CDs, vinyls, tees, shorts, hats, beanies, patches, bottle openers, flags… You name it!
Q: You recently released a killer EP ‘Portraits’ with an array of guest musos including members from Soilwork, Caligula’s Horse, Omnium Gatherum & Mors Principium Est. Will you be playing a good chunk of these songs in your set at Electric Eye Fest?
A: Can confirm 3 of the 5 tracks are on our setlist for the night. GET KEEN!
Q: What else can Perth metalheads look forward to in your set for the night?
A: HIGH ENERGY! That and we basically play at least 1 song from every release in this setlist, the Bodom cover is in there, half the Portraits EP, a good mixture of song tempos, it has a bit of everything for every fan!
Q: What is on the cards for Orpheus Omega in 2024?
A: We will have a little downtime early in the year. Then the hope is to go overseas yet again, Europe or USA have been on our radar but let’s see! And we may OR may not have an album worth of material ready to drop too – people will have to follow our socials to stay up to date on our latest movements. ; )
