On this eery and brooding day, overlooking the rain and clouds, seems the perfect time to check out the latest album from Perth’s Jupiter Zeus, ‘Central Ave’.
Jupiter Zeus play a brand of heavy rock, done with a doomy stoner type of vibe. It wouldn’t be out of place next to certain eras of Operth, Katatonia or Type o Negative.
In this, the follow up to 2014’s ‘On Earth’ album, the band return with 8 tracks that aren’t dissimilar to their previous stuff or anything new or groundbreaking, but rather they have just focused on delivering a bunch of cool songs in the style they do best.
It’s guitar driven, plenty of riffs that are both powerful and trippy, with dashes of reverbs and delays. This sits well with the clean ethereal vocal stylings that follow the dark riff patterns.
The band have released a music video for the track ‘The End Is Nigh’ that has plenty of earth and nature footage that gives a great introduction to their music for those who haven’t heard them before.
A very solid album that’s definitely worth checking out. Hear it on all the usual streaming platforms, or grab yourself a copy from Bandcamp - https://jupiterzeus.bandcamp.com/album/central-ave
